In 1998, WebPE President, Fred Illich, a seasoned manager and professional engineer specializing in computerized data management and consulting founded WebPE. He and several other founders of WebPE came from URS, one of the largest engineering design firms in the world. The team developed and implemented the Technical Data Management (TDM) System within the early environmental information systems market. Clients included the U.S. Navy, U.S. EPA, Port of Seattle, U.S. Air Force, and other government and industrial clients. Each of these agencies and facilities relied upon the TDM System. The founders of WebPE led the systems development and data management to facilitate the processing of environmental information across hundreds of projects and millions of discrete records of data.
The methodologies employed between 1992 and 1998 reduced data management costs by more than 70 percent. These savings in data management included enhancements in the quality, presentation and distribution of technical data on complex engineering and environmental studies. The WebPE founders left professional consulting to develop and introduce easy-to-use Internet-based applications to the broader marketplace.
The founders of WebPE believe in the power of hosted solutions delivered through the Internet. WebPE relies upon application service providers (ASPs) such as WebTrends, NetLedger, SalesForce.com and Atomz. These valuable partners of WebPE demonstrate unequivocally the efficiencies and productivity enhancements that can be gained by outsourcing such diverse activities as website statistics, accounting, sales management, and human resources management.
As the ASP model becomes commonplace for companies across the globe, WebPE will strive to stand among the leaders of hosted engineering and scientific software, data and systems.
Today, WebPE environmental, property, and collaboration software products are available through hosted or licensed configurations, and can be scaled to meet a wide variety of customer needs.
